Serbia Midfielder Matic Takes Son to Meet Ronaldo

Serbia may have lost at home to Portugal in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Saturday, September 7, but that clearly didn’t dent the admiration of midfielder Nemanja Matic’s son for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Matic, who plays his club football with Manchester United, took the boy, and his friend, to meet the Portugal legend after a 4-2 thriller in Belgrade.

The two young boys swapped high-fives with Ronaldo, and posed with him while Matic snapped a photo.

After two draws in succession, European champions Portugal boosted their 2020 qualifying campaign via goals from William Carvalho, Goncalo Guedes, Ronaldo, and Bernardo Silva. They now sit second in Group B, eight points behind Ukraine, but with two games in hand.

Serbia, meanwhile, are on four points, and lie fourth in the Group B table, behind Luxembourg on goal difference. Credit: Mondo Sport via Storyful
