Captain Mercer and his dysfunctional crew of space explorers are coming back for a new series of The Orville this Christmas.
That's right, there's plenty more interstellar escapades to experience – and now FOX has given us a sneak peek at season two.
The new trailer, which debuted at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday (July 21), shows Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) and the gang bumbling their way through daily tasks on board the titular U.S.S. Orville.
Set 400 years in the future, MacFarlane's sci-fi passion project follows the adventures of a mixed crew of humans and aliens.
Depressed after a divorce, Mercer's dreams come true when he is made commander of the Orville. But his life is made ten times harder when ex-wife Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) is made First Officer to the very same vessel. Hard luck, Merc.
Somehow, the exasperated captain must put the past behind him and navigate the dangerous outer reaches of the galaxy.
Season two was delayed back in May, after MacFarlane appeared to suggest that the show wouldn't return in 2018 because there was "too much to do" before later going back on that and tweeting that The Orville season two will arrive "later this year".
To correct a bit of misreporting: No, there won’t be an Orville/Family Guy crossover, and yes, The Orville season 2 will arrive later this year.- Seth MacFarlane (@SethMacFarlane) January 7, 2018
Now it's slated for a December 30 release, as confirmed in the trailer by FOX.
Get ready, it's gonna be one hell of a ride.
The Orville season two will air December 30 2018 on FOX
