It feels like only yesterday we were going through the award-season motions, but somehow it's time to start thinking about next year's gongs already.

So, to make you feel like time is slipping away even quicker than it is, we're here to tell you that Saturday Night Live alum Seth Meyers is tipped to host next year's Golden Globes.

Sorry, Ricky Gervais. (Again.)

According to Variety, the comedian – who hosts popular talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers – has signed up to present the notoriously relaxed ceremony.

Following in the footsteps of this year's host Jimmy Fallon, the ever-controversial Ricky Gervais and fan-favourites Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, 2018 will be Seth's turn to keep the attention of a room full of tipsy celebrities.

Turning to potential contenders on the night, the hugely successful and strikingly relevant horror Get Out has been classed as a comedy for next year's Globes.

Unlike the Oscars or the BAFTAs, the Globes award a Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Actress in two categories, 'Drama' and 'Comedy or Musical' – and Get Out has opted for the latter.

While not everyone is on board with its categorisation, the film is played for laughs, despite it's very serious socio-political themes, and genuinely scary horror vibes.

The Golden Globe nominations will be announced on December 12. Meanwhile, you can check out all the awards' runners and riders right here.
