Seven arrested after man left with serious head injuries in Birmingham city centre attack
Police have arrested seven people after a man was attacked and left with head injuries in the city centre. The victim, said to be in his 60s, was assaulted in Bennetts Hill, around 9pm on Saturday (September 7).
Three men, all aged 23, and four women, aged between 20 and 24, on suspicion of wounding. They remain in custody for questioning.
A scene currently remains in place while we carry out a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened. Police said his injuries are said to be serious but not life-threatening.

A scene is being held and police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time. A statement read: "We've arrested seven people after a man was seriously injured following disorder in Birmingham city centre.
"We were alerted to a man being attacked in Bennetts Hill at just after 9pm yesterday (7 September). The man, aged in his 60s, sustained head injuries. Although serious they're no longer believed to be life-threatening.
"We promptly arrested three men, all aged 23, and four women, aged between 20 and 24, on suspicion of wounding. They remain in custody for questioning.
"A scene currently remains in place while we carry out a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened. We really appreciate the patience of businesses and city centre visitors while we continue these important enquiries."
