Seven new flood alerts issued in Coventry and Warwickshire as heavy downpours loom

The Environment Agency has issued six new flood alerts in communities across Coventry and Warwickshire. They all warn that flooding is possible as heavy rain is set to fall within the next hour.

The Met Office has already upgraded its warning for rain from 'yellow' to 'amber' which brings with it an increased risk of flooding and disruption on the roads. The warning is from 6pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning (September 27).

Now the Environment Agency has put seven places in our area on alert. This is to urge communities to be brace for flooding as river levels are set to rise.

The areas on alert are:

  • River Sowe, River Sherbourne, Canley Brook and Finham Brook

  • River Anker and River Sence

  • River Leam and River Itchen

  • Middle Avon Rugby to Bidford

  • River Dene in South East Warwickshire

  • River Blythe in Warwickshire
