Flood alerts for parts of Coventry and Warwickshire are still in place for today (September 28). Heavy rain is expected to hit the region this weekend.

Officials at the Environment Agency say ongoing local flooding from rivers is expected to continue across parts of England on Sunday (September 29) and Monday (September 30). They added land, roads and some properties may flood and there could be potential travel disruption.

The Met Office warned that nearly three inches of rain could fall in the worst-affected areas with 'rivers continuing to rise after the rain clears. Environment Agency officials say they are 'closely monitoring the situation' and urged others to avoid driving on low-lying roads near rivers.

Experts say River Leam at Eathorpe, Huningham, and Offchurch in Warwickshire is 'expected to flood'. An update this morning says river levels have 'now peaked' but remain high at the Eathorpe River gauge with the risk of flooding remaining throughout today. They added that while it should remain dry today, 'further rainfall' is forecasted on Sunday so 'please remain vigilant'.

In Nuneaton, Weddington fields and Sandon Park remain engulfed in water yesterday (September 27) due to flooding from the River Anker. The car park had been submerged in water but residents in the nearby flood close to Cleaver Garden were not impacted due to flood barriers keeping the water out of the block of flats.
