If you're looking to lose belly fat but are still in need of delicious breakfasts that won't taste boring or uninspiring, look no further.

Breakfast is often thought of the most important meal of the day as it sets the tone for how the rest of your day will go – and just because you're looking to lose weight doesn't mean you should skip it.

Skipping meals can actually have the opposite effect, slowing down the body's metabolism and making it harder to reach your goals, so it's important to make sure you get a healthy meal in the morning.

On the @happinessyoga_1 TikTok channel, which is a health and fitness account, the first breakfast recommendation was a smoothie bowl. For this, you need to blend frozen fruits with plant-based milk and incorporate some protein powder.

The next idea was avocado on toast, with wholegrain bread to make sure you're hitting your fibre goals. Then you should "mash half an avocado and spread it on top" for a quick and easy meal that tastes delicious.

"Chia pudding" may sound like a dessert, but it makes the most glorious and healthy breakfast. You just need to "mix chia seeds with plant-based milk, sweetener and vanilla extract and let it sit in the fridge overnight".

Tofu scramble was the next suggestion. The video added: "Sauté crumbled tofu with veggies like spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms for a protein-packed breakfast."

A yoghurt bowl is a simple and easy way to start your day. All you need to do is: "Top plant-based yoghurt with granola, berries, and nuts (if you can) for a satisfying and nutritious breakfast."

If you've got a big morning ahead, you may want to try a breakfast burrito. To do this, the video said: "Fill a wholegrain wrap with black beans, veggies, and avocado for a tasty and filling breakfast" that you can also take "on the go."

Finally, the video suggested "energy balls", which are "dates, nuts and seeds". You put them in a food processor, and then "roll into bite-sized balls". These would be perfect if you were super busy, and needed to leave the house quickly, and can be made easily whenever you need to restock them.

The NHS share that the recommended daily calorie intake for the average person is:

  • 2,500kcal for men

  • 2,000kcal for women

They share that when trying to lose weight, the average person should aim to reduce their daily calorie intake by about 600kcal.

That means reducing calories from the recommended daily allowance to:

  • 1,900kcal for men

  • 1,400kcal for women

However, these requirements are different for everyone and can be affected by your current weight, height, and activity level. Of course, before changing your lifestyle this way, you should consult with your GP to check this is the right change for you.
