Severe Flash Flooding Hits Tennessee's Lawrence County

Flash floods swamped parts of Lawrence County, Tennessee, on Thursday, June 2, after heavy rainfall caused creeks to swell.

This footage from Lawrence County Fire & Rescue shows severe flooding in Gandy, about five miles southwest of the city of Lawrenceburg.

Between 1 and 3 inches of rain fell on the county and several roads were closed due to floods, local media reported.

The National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for the area up to 9:15 pm, later extended it to 11:45 pm, and urged people “to be careful traveling in the hilly areas west of Lawrenceburg where creeks are running high and covering several roads.” Credit: Lawrence County Fire & Rescue via Storyful
