Severe, gale force winds on the way this weekend amid weather warnings
Severe, gale force winds are on the way this weekend with weather warnings being issued. It comes as floodwater from Wednesday's deluge recedes in North Wales.
Sunny spells tomorrow will give way to yet more heavy rain and blustery winds in coming days. Yellow weather warnings for wind have been issued for Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd from 3am on Sunday, October 20 until 12 noon on Monday, October 21.
A severe gale can bring wind speeds of 47mph to 54mph. BBC forecasters say this means there is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties. There is also a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected. There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close and a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris, such as tiles blown from roofs.
It comes as Natural Resources Wales urges people to take care in this windy weather especially on coasts. NRW said: “If you live near to, or are visiting a coastal area, please take extra care and keep a safe distance from coastal paths and promenades.”
