Severe Storms Lash Canberra Bringing Golf Ball-Sized Hail

Golf ball-sized hail battered the Australian capital Canberra as severe storms were forecast around the state on January 20.

Hailstones as large as 5 centimetres were reported to have fallen on the city, with further storms a possibility later in the day.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued storm warnings for almost a quarter of the nearby state of New South Wales.

Residents of the neighbouring New South Wales were urged to move their cars under cover and away from any trees and power lines as storms were forecast to affect southern parts of the state on January 20. Credit: Jado72 via Storyful
