Severe Storms Cause Flash Flooding in Cleveland Metro Area

Severe thunderstorms in the Cleveland metro area caused flash flooding on Sunday morning, March 29, as the downtown Cleveland Cuyahoga River reached near historic levels, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported.

The NWS issued a flash flood warning for several northern Ohio cities on Sunday morning as an intense storm system moved into the area. The persistent rain caused severe flooding, with multiple reports of stranded cars and water rescues, the NWS said.

Portions of Interstate 90 were shut down due to flooding, the Ohio Department of Transportation said.
