Environment Canada's severe thunderstorm watch for central and western P.E.I. on Monday afternoon has ended.

"The chance for isolated thunderstorms should diminish fairly early this evening with the sky beginning to clear overnight, ahead of a sunny and warm Tuesday," said CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland.

The watch ended just after 4 p.m. on Monday. It was first issued just before 2 p.m.

At the time, there was a storm along the North Shore in the New London area, and another in Prince County near O'Leary.

Conditions were favourable for the formation of storms, the agency said in a statement. In addition to the danger of lightning, thunderstorms have the potential to bring flash floods to some areas.
