Severe Thunderstorms Bring Flooding to Gulf Coast Region

Severe thunderstorms hit the Gulf Coast region on Wednesday, May 25, bringing heavy rain and flooding to portions of northeast Louisiana, central Mississippi, north-central Mississippi, and southwest Mississippi.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a hazardous weather warning for the region through Wednesday night, and said some thunderstorms could produce damaging hail and winds. A tornado was also possible, according to the NWS.

Localized flooding could occur through Thursday morning, the NWS said, especially in low-lying and urban areas.
