Sex And The City fans finally got a first glimpse of the long-awaited spinoff series And Just Like That... after Sunday night's Emmy Awards.

Following the US broadcast of the ceremony, HBO aired a trailer ad for shows due out in the coming months – including the new SATC spinoff, which catches up with Carrie and co later in their lives.

Although only a few scenes were available in the montage trailer, which also included new series of Succession and Curb Your Enthusiasm, they were welcomed by fans who have been itching to get a look at what happened to the New York pals next.

Scenes show Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis back together as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte and in typically glamorous outfits.

We also get a look at Carrie and her husband Big (Chris Noth), who look happier than ever as they dance around their kitchen and kiss, an unexpected scene after rumours that the pair would divorce in the new series.

One fan tweeted: "I haven't felt so alive in years."

Someone else commented: "The collective gasp heard around the world when @hbomax released the first clip of the Sex and the City revival during their commercial."

Another person added: "Seeing a preview of the new #SATC reboot #AndJustLikeThat during #Emmys2021 commercials just made my night."

One SATC character we didn't see in the trailer was fan favourite Samantha, as Kim Cattrall has confirmed that she will not take part in the new series.

She had previously said she would not make a third film for the franchise, so it came as no surprise that when the reboot was announced earlier this year, she was not in the cast.

Meanwhile, Nicole Ari Parker was announced as a new cast member and is set to play a replacement best friend for Carrie, documentary maker Lisa Todd Wexley.

The new series picks up years on from the end of the original TV series in 2004 and follows the Manhattan group of friends as they navigate relationships and careers in their 50s.

Since the original show ended, there have also been two SATC films released, in 2008 and 2010, as well as teen prequel series The Carrie Diaries.
