You do not need to fork out a lot of money to make your house look extra 'spooky' for Halloween this year, as you may have the best and natural decorations thanks to the warmer weather, the Met Office has warned.

According to the weather service, UK households are braced to be invaded by 'sex-craved' spiders - who have the sole mission to mate and multiply - this autumn. This can be reduced or increased by the weather - and there is almost nothing you can do about it because spiders always 'find a way in'.

Those who are praying for warm and mild may regret it, as there will be more insects for the spiders to eat, which allows them to grow bigger but if the weather is damp and cold - households will not see as many hanging around.

But even with the mildest of weathers, it is the season to turn the heating on - which will lead to an arachnophobes worst nightmare since it will encourage large male spiders to wander through our homes in search of females. While the males are the ones actively seeking out a mate, the females tend to stay put in places like under window sills or in their webs.

Although we don't really need to worry about it harming us, as UK house spiders are relatively "harmless", there are a few ways to prevent spiders from making your house its home. One thing that could help is to make sure your house is tidy, by keeping clothes off the floor may reduce places for them to hide. Other tips include using Vaseline or vapour rub - which spiders hate the taste of mint.

But for Halloween fans and people not bothered about spiders - by leaving webs on doors or windows - it can really make your house stand out this Halloween with the natural decorations and could be the place to go for trick or treaters.
