Sex Education's Connor Swindells weds fiancé in Highlands ceremony

Sex Education star Connor Swindells has tied the knot with fiancée Amber Anderson.

The actor, also known for his roles in SAS Rogue Heroes and Barbie, wed his long-term partner in a Scottish Highlands-based ceremony in front of family and friends – with his on-screen dad from the hit Netflix show, Alistair Petrie, officiating the wedding.

Photos of the newlyweds were shared on British Vogue's Instagram account, giving fans a glimpse into their special day.

Anderson, also an actor, is known for her roles in Peaky Blinders season six and the 2020 film adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma, which also stars Swindells.

"The couple had stayed in touch after meeting on the set of @AutumnDeWilde’s #Emma, but it was bubbling together during lockdown that made them see one another in a new light," read the post's caption explaining the couple's love story.

The photos show Anderson opted for a gown by Vivienne Westwood for the occasion, with Swindells looking smart in a navy suit with a tartan tie.

In one photo, Anderson and Swindells are seen at the altar with Sex Education co-star Petrie, who wore a kilt to officiate the couple.

In an accompanying interview with Vogue, Swindells revealed that he proposed to Anderson during a group trip to Botswana. He got down on one knee by a 1,400-year-old baobab tree while they were on a safari.

"We rounded the corner, and there stood a beautiful baobab. I knew the rest was up to me," he explained, adding: "She said yes."

One important guest at the wedding was Emma director Autumn de Wilde, who gave a speech at the wedding reception.

"It meant so much to us to have her speak. We met because of the movie she made, and over the years she has become a best friend, spiritual guardian, advisor and adopted auntie," said Anderson. "She means the world to us."

Sex Education season 1-4 are available on Netflix.
