Sex-Mad Stag On The Loose In London

Londoners have to deal with things like congestion, pollution and delayed trains on a daily basis - but a sex-mad stag is a new one to even them.

The horny animal has been spotted roaming around Croydon, in the south of the capital, and residents have been warned to keep their distance.

Trying to attract a mate, the stag has been making an almighty racket with it’s bellowing mating call.

Eyewitnesses also saw it stamping the ground and shaking its antlers - and council officials believe could be a danger if approached.

The wild animal - which is estimated to weigh a hefty 250kg - was locked into Park Hill recreation ground and warning signs were put up for locals.

It read: “For your safety and the welfare of the animal do not enter the park or try to get close to the deer.”

The park has now been closed to the public.

A council spokeswoman told the Croydon Guardian: “The red deer stag is still contained in Park Hill recreation ground, and is calm and happy.

"However, at this time of year, stags can become aggressive, so, for the safety of the public and the stag itself, the council kept the park closed over the weekend and ensured the animal had sufficient food and water.

“Enquiries are ongoing as to where the stag might have come from, but these animals do not occur naturally in this area.

The animal is still on the loose but officials are hoping to find a suitable home for it once it is captured.
