Note: This article contains spoilers for Shadowhunters' final season.

Before Shadowhunters star Katherine McNamara shoots off to become the mysterious Maya on Arrow, she is giving fans a sneak peek of the show's ending.

The actress told E! News that it could be a tearjerker for fans, saying: "I saw the final scene the other day, and it's perfectly bittersweet."

Katherine also revealed that she will continue to star in the third and final season, despite her character Clary Fray being... dead.

"Here's what I can say, because technically I'm dead on the show at the moment: I am in the last 12 episodes."

But it seems Clary will be a shadow of her former self.

"That explosion and everything that took place in Lilith's apartment in episode 10 changes everyone in the story forever, particularly Clary. She will never be the same person she was before that," added McNamara.

Many viewers feel the Freeform show, based on Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments novels, has been cancelled all too soon. Along with a #SaveShadowhunters social media campaign, they have certainly made their voices heard.

Shadowhunters scooped The Show and The Bingeworthy Show of 2018 gongs at this year's People's Choice Awards. Its two leaders Katherine and Harry Shum Jr picked up the prizes for The Female and The Male TV Star of 2018, respectively.

And thanks to the show's success, McNamara remains hopeful for a revival. "Anything's possible, and if nothing else, the ending of the show is kickass," she teased.

Shadowhunters will return for its final season in 2019 on Freeform.
