Shahid Kapoor topples Zayn as Sexiest Asian Man of 2017

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has dethroned Zayn Malik to be named the Sexiest Asian Man of the Year for 2017.

The 36-year old, who is perhaps best known for starring in films such as Vivah and Jab We Met, was given the prestigious title by UK based paper Eastern Eye.

Zayn, who came on top in 2016, was only number three this year, behind Shahid and Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan.

Shahid himself tweeted after the news broke: "Sexiest Man Alive, 2017!!! WOW!! Thank you guys!! It's all made possible because of your love & support. Love you all!!"

Hmm, we can't possibly think why the Bollywood star topped the list?

Nope, no idea.

While Zayn may have missed out on the top spot in 2017, he hasn't had a bad year overall.

Back in September, he released a collaborative single with Sia called 'Dusk Till Dawn', one of the first tastes fans have had of his upcoming second album.

Zayn has also opened up about being the most high-profile Muslim in entertainment, and revealed that he takes "a great sense of pride – and responsibility" in the knowledge that he's the "first of [his] kind and from [his] background".

"I'm not currently practising but I was raised in the Islamic faith, so it will always be with me, and I identify a lot with the culture," he explained.

"But I'm just me. I don't want to be defined by my religion or my cultural background."
