Shannen Doherty finalized divorce right before her death

Her ex, Kurt Iswarienko, signed his part of the papers on the day she died.

Shannen Doherty was finalizing her divorce shortly before she died last week, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. On Monday, a judge granted her a posthumous divorce.

Doherty married photographer Kurt Iswarienko in 2011. He was her third husband and her longest marriage, but she filed for divorce in 2023 amidst her years-long battle with breast cancer. According to a PEOPLE report from last month, Doherty was seeking spousal support from Iswarienko as she feared her residual income from Charmed was about to dry up with the show set to leave streaming services at the end of June.

Representatives for Doherty did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

Doherty signed papers for "default or uncontested dissolution" on July 12, according to PEOPLE. Iswarienko signed his part on July 13, the same day as Doherty's death. The documents called for a separation of assets, and also terminated her previous requests for spousal support.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and documented her battle with the disease on social media. She went into remission in 2017, but her cancer returned in 2020. After she died on July 13 surrounded by family and loved ones, other famous breast cancer survivors reflected on the positive example Doherty had provided for them.

Olivia Munn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, revealed on Instagram that she reached out to Doherty after her diagnosis and "we became instant friends."

"True to form, Shannen was offering her support even though she was in the final stage of fighting this horrific disease," Munn said.

Amy Robach also remembered talking to Doherty about their shared experiences with breast cancer.

"She had such an impact on me because we were diagnosed two years apart initially," the former ABC News reporter said. "Every cancer is different, but she and I connected and she knew she was in a fight for her life...I just always marveled at her bravery."
