It's almost a year since the North East woke up to the astounding sight of the Sycamore Gap tree lying next to Hadrian's Wall.

The tree's deliberate felling overnight between September 27 and 28 caused an outpouring of emotions not just in Northumberland but around the entire world.

One of the most photographed trees in the country, it was a special place for many. Some have taken their partners there on dates, others have even proposed there.

For many more it's a spot to rest and recharge when walking anything from a stretch, to the entire length, of Hadrian's Wall. Even those who never made it to the tree have been captivated by its appearance in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
