Shark Sighting Prompts Beaches to Close on Westhampton

Swimming was suspended and beaches were closed after lifeguards spotted sharks just 200 yards off Westhampton, New York, on August 17, according to an update from the town of Southampton.

The sharks, feeding on schools of bunker fish in the area, were recorded by Southampton Town Police Department’s Unmanned Aircraft Unit.
