Sharon Osbourne has admitted to not being the "perfect" mother to her three children, wishing she had been more present while they were growing up.

The TV star, 69, insisted that as a woman you "can't have it all" when it comes to career and motherhood, and that something's got to "suffer".

Speaking to The Sunday Times' Magazine, she said: "Was I a perfect mother? No way. Do I wish I’d been there more? Absolutely.

"It’s hard and when people say, ‘I want it all,’ you can’t have it all. Nobody has it all because something’s got to suffer.”

With 73-year-old husband Ozzy Osbourne – who she married in 1982 – she shares daughter Aimee, 38, daughter Kelly, 37, and son Jack, 36.

The family, barring their eldest child who declined to take part, rose to fame as part of reality TV series The Osbournes from 2002 to 2005.

On why they stopped filming after three years, the former X Factor judge explained: “It was affecting my kids.

"It was that time where you’re experimenting with drink and drugs.

"They used to go to clubs and people would give them whatever they wanted. They were 15 and 16. It’s, like, ‘Are you nuts?’”

Osbourne – who is about to launch a talk show on new British channel TalkTV – noted that Aimee, a singer who is continuing to shun fame, "doesn’t like the life we lead".

Meanwhile, Kelly, who has been documenting her six-stone weight loss journey, is "doing good" in her recovery from alcoholism.

Jack, soon to be a father-of-four, is newly-engaged and training to be a search and rescue paramedic.
