Shattered Mariupol Citizens Get First Taste of Freedom

While President Putin's invasion of Ukraine didn't go according to plan in Phase One, he seems to believe he has the upper hand now in Phase Two. He claimed today the port city of Mariupol had fallen even though around two thousand die-hard Ukrainian fighters plus hundreds of civilians are still holding out inside the huge steel works there.Mr Putin said his troops didn't need to risk their lives trying to flush them out. Blockading the plant and starving them, would do it, he said. Those shattered civilians who made it out alive have reached the nearby town of Zaporizhzhia with terrible tales to tell about life - and death - inside Mariupol.
