Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder has spoken about an encounter with aliens when he was a teenager.
The Manchester performer and TV personality appeared on Wednesday’s episode of This Morning to discuss his experience with UFOs.

Happening more than once, Ryder claims he had his first paranormal encounter while he was working as a messenger boy for the post office, aged 15.
“I’m going [to work] and there was a kid that used to get on the same bus when I was going into town, he was a grammar school kid and we were walking towards the bus stop and I don’t know why we looked up, but we looked up and we saw these things zigzagging about,” Ryder told the stunned presenters.
Adding that the UFO would move back and forth, then stay still before shooting off, Ryder adds that the other boy saw the same thing and confirmed his story.
“[It was] long before my encounters with hallucinogenics!” the star laughed, in reference to his past public experimentation with drugs throughout the 90s. “The strongest thing I’d seen was lemonade!”

However, Ryder later added that it wasn’t the last time he would see something other-worldly, and said: “When I started seeing other things, I really went to get things checked out.”
Adding he felt like it was “in his nut”, Ryder told presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield that he feared it could be a symptom of something else.
“When you start hallucinating on things then you could be losing your eyesight,” he said.
In 2013, Ryder said that he was filming with a documentary on aliens when his next encounter occurred.
“We’d been filming in South America, I get home, been home for a couple of days, and I get up and it’s seven o’clock in the morning,” he said.

“I get up, and because it’s not anything landing in your back garden, but I looked out in my back garden and over my apple tree was this big - about 20ft by 10ft - plastic Airfix looking wobbly thing that looked like it was hanging there on strings because it was moving.”
Initially believing it was a wind-up from the production team, before it got bigger and bigger before disappearing.
