Shawn Mendes says Niall Horan collaboration will ‘definitely’ happen

Hot new collaboration alert: Canadian chart-topper Shawn Mendes has confirmed that he will “definitely” team up with One Direction’s Niall Horan to make some sweet, sweet music.

A collaboration between Shawn, 18, and Niall, 23, has been rumoured for months, but now the Treat You Better hitmaker has revealed he’s met with the Irish hunk to arrange some song-writing sessions.

Be still, our beating hearts.

Speaking to Roman Kemp on Capital Radio last night, Shawn revealed the boys have been “talking back and forth for a long time”, confirming a collab will “definitely happen, eventually when we get time.”

He said: “I met him for the first time the other day, but it’s funny because we felt like we knew each other because we were talking back and forth for a long time. But yeah, when we get the chance, I’d love to write with him.

“I think he’s incredible. He’s got this great, great vibe happening with this whole acoustic thing so I think I really want to get involved with it, if he is down. Which he is, I think.”

The pair of pop heartthrobs met at the 2016 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards last weekend where Niall performed his first ever solo gig, singing his new single This Town, which we might just have on repeat for the rest of our lives.

Meanwhile Shawn scored two top prizes at the star-studded ceremony in London, including Best International Solo Artist and Best Single for his heart-rending song Stitches.

If these two keep it up, they’ll soon be picking up the ‘Ultimate Bromance’ award… now that’s an acceptance speech we would love to hear.
