'Sheep Heart, Lungs, and Liver': US Embassy Staff Sample Scottish Food Ahead of Glasgow Summit

Officials at the US Embassy in London sampled traditional Scottish foods and drinks such as deep-fried Mars bars, haggis, and Cullen skink ahead of his trip to Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit, hilarious footage posted on October 30 showed.

Philip T Reeker, Ambassador Philip T Reeker, who is Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, at the US Embassy, can be seen with other officials in the footage trying Scottish favourites such as the soda Irn-Bru (Iron Brew); square “lorne” sausage; haggis (sheep heart, lungs, and liver, presented in the lining of a sheep’s stomach); a deep-fried Mars bar; and Cranachan, the desert featuring raspberries, oats, and whisky.

The local delicacies were overwhelmingly a hit, even if Reeker observed that “you probably should sell [Haggis] with [the actual description of what’s in it].” Credit: Charge d’Affaires Philip T. Reeker via Storyful
