Sheffield murder detectives investigating after man, 23, dies in 'targeted' Darnall attack

A man who was left with a serious head injury following a targeted attack in Sheffield at the weekend has sadly died.

South Yorkshire Police were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service on Saturday, June 8, at around 4.36pm to reports of a serious assault on Staniforth Road in Darnall.

Upon arrival of emergency services, a 23-year-old man was found with a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital, where yesterday evening (Monday, June 10) he sadly died.

The man’s family has been informed and is being supported by officers, a spokesperson for the force has said.

A murder investigation is now underway and detectives are trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and ensure the person responsible is brought to justice.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection to the incident. He remains in police custody at this time.
