A Sheffield school has been placed in 'lockdown' after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed, according to the headteacher.

The teen was stabbed at All Saints Catholic High School, in Granville Road, at about 12.17pm today (Monday, February 3). A teenager has been arrested and is in police custody.

Emergency services are at the scene. An air ambulance has been photographed at the school's playing fields. Granville Road is still closed from the tram stop to Fitzwalter Road. Headteacher Sean Pender wrote a letter to parents and guardians, The Mirror reports, stating the school had gone into 'lockdown' while police and paramedics are on site.

This comes less than a week after the school previously went into lockdown. The school's staff and pupils were handed a "stay put" order on Wednesday, January 29, following 'threats of violence'. It has been reported pupils are now being released today (Monday) from the lockdown in staggered group stages.

Mr Pender wrote: “I am writing to inform you that today we have dealt with an extremely serious incident here in school resulting in us going in to a lockdown procedure. The incident involved two students, one of whom we believe has been seriously injured. All other students are contained and safe.

“The police and paramedics are present in school. Once the police allow us to, we will be releasing all students from school. I understand the level of anxiety you will be feeling without knowledge of the nature of the incident but at this time I have limited information to share with you whilst we have police and paramedics on site.

"I will endeavour to update you with as much information as possible at the earliest opportunity. We ask for your prayers and support at this time.”
