Shelves Bare in West Virginia Supermarket as COVID-19 Cases Surge

A shopper in West Virginia observed shelves empty of toilet paper at a supermarket, as COVID cases rose across the state.

Footage posted on November 19 shows the toilet paper section of a Kroger supermarket in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Similar scenes were reported at stores in Pennsylvania and Washington.

The state reported 1,122 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, the second-highest daily total since the pandemic began, reports said.

As of November 20, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources had reported 38,480 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and 639 deaths, 16 of which occurred within the last 24 hours. Credit: @lalaohsogood via Storyful
