Sky's long-anticipated A Discovery of Witches has started filming in Wales, so what better time to announce that some fan favourite actors have joined the cast?

Deborah Harkness, author of the All Souls trilogy from which the show is being adapted , revealed a good chunk of the main cast on her Facebook page, and Sherlock and Game of Thrones fans are in for a treat.

First up is Louise Brealey, most famous as the forever friend-zoned Mollie in Sherlock. Brealey will be playing witch Gillian Chamberlain, who isn't the nicest of people, let's just say that.

The other big name is Owen Teale, who will be playing occult expert and lover of tweed Peter Knox.

Teale previously starred in an episode of Torchwood as a cannibal and on Game of Thrones as Ser Alliser Thorne, formerly of the Night's Watch.

The guy who stabs Jon Snow, basically.

Also joining the cast are Line of Duty's Aiysha Hart, Waking the Dead's Trevor Eve and Poldark's Michael Culkin, in addition to the previously announced Matthew Goode (The Good Wife) and Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge).

A Discovery of Witches is being brought to television by Julie Gardner, who previously revived Doctor Who alongside Russell T Davies. Gardner has teamed up with Jane Tranter to create Bad Wolf Productions, with this being their first project.

A Discovery of Witches will air on Sky (once it's filmed and edited, of course).
