Sherlock returns with explosive Series 4 trailer

‘Sherlock’ returns to Baker Street in a new Series 4 trailer.

It’s official - Benedict Cumberbatch is back as everyone’s favourite detective on 1 January 2017… and we’ve got a brief glimpse of ‘Sherlock’ Series 4 with an explosive new trailer.

But can Sherlock finally defeat Moriarty?

This impressive new ‘Sherlock’ trailer debuted last night following the ‘Great British Bake Off’ final… and it looks as though Mr Holmes has some tough times ahead, courtesy of an old enemy.

“Something’s coming,” says Sherlock, ominously. “Maybe it’s Moriarty… maybe it’s not.”

Of course, we last saw Moriarty appearing in a shocking video after he supposedly killed himself on the rooftop of St Bart’s Hospital - the latest gambit in a game of cat and mouse which we assume resulted in the death of Sherlock’s nemesis.

But is he back? Or did he plan for every eventuality, even his own death?

“Whenever he’s coming, whatever he’s lined up, I’ll know where to begin,” he says.

But can Sherlock best his nemesis? Will he even be back at all?

The 90-second clip features some explosive action including a shot of the new villain played by Toby Jones. In fact, the trailer is packed full of teasers, including a gun-toting Sherlock, a few impressive fight scenes and even an explosion or two. An intriguing start, then.

(Note: The video was originally released in July… but the broadcast version featured the addition of the Series 4 air date)

But most intriguingly, we see the usually detached Sherlock looking absolutely horrified.

And we can’t wait to find out what’s happened.
