'She's Our Hero': Teacher Jumps Into SUV Rolling Toward Middle-Schoolers

A teacher has been hailed as a “hero” after she jumped into an SUV that was rolling toward a group of students outside Soehl Middle School in Linden, New Jersey, on September 8.

Linden Public Schools said this video shows Valerie Tauriello (wearing shorts) put “her own health and safety aside” when she ran around to the driver’s side of the moving car, got into it, and brought it to a stop.

Speaking to WLNY, the health teacher said it was a “scary moment,” but “without hesitation, I said ‘I have to get into that car. I have to stop that car’.”

This video also shows the car’s owner, a parent, racing toward the car and jumping in front of it in an effort to stop it, according to reports. Credit: Linden Public Schools via Storyful
