Shipwrecked is coming back on E4 – and you can apply

After over six years off our screens, Shipwrecked in returning to – E4 so get excited, people!

Following rumours of a revival in recent months in the wake of Love Island's success, Channel 4 has now confirmed that filming for the new series will begin this summer.

What's more, applications are now open for those brave enough to try and survive life on a tropical island, so if you're interested you can check out more details here.

The new version is being "re-imagined" for a new generation with camp being set up on two rival islands: Shark Island and Tiger Island.

The two tribes will battle it out to be the largest, and the new 15-part series will incorporate secrets and hidden treasures as well as traps to shake things up a bit.

"These incredible islands are waiting to welcome the next generation of Tigers and Sharks," said Neale Simpson, Executive Producer, Fizz.

"Shipwrecked has always been known for its richly diverse and remarkable characters and we can't wait to meet the new islanders bringing hedonism, heroism, heart, and hilarity to our paradise island adventure."

The series originally ran for three series between 2000 and 2001, before being revived in 2006 for a Battle of the Islands format. It ran in total for eight series, with its last The Island edition airing in 2012.

Shipwrecked is due to air on E4.
