Manchester United are continuing to be linked with several potential new signings ahead of the January transfer window.

United will be able to add new players to their squad in three months time when the transfer window opens in the New Year. It remains to be seen if Ineos decide to make further changes to the squad after a busy summer transfer window.

Five players were signed by United with Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Light, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte all moving to Old Trafford. However, it remains a possibility that United could make further new signings in January, with rumours already speculating about what business may be conducted.

Joshua Zirkzee is already being linked with a move away from United. The Reds agreed a €42.5million (£35million) deal to sign the striker from Bologna during the recent transfer window in what was United's first deal of the summer.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus could be in line to pursue a shock move to sign Zirkzee in the January transfer window. The report suggests the idea of a swap deal that could see Dusan Vlahovic move in the opposite direction and sign for United.

It has been claimed, though, that the chances of a deal remain unlikely due to the difference in wage demands for both players. The prospect of Zirkzee leaving Old Trafford so soon after his arrival would certainly be a shock and the chances of him sealing a transfer remain slim.

Elsewhere, United are reportedly interested in signing AZ Alkmaar forward Ruben van Bommel. The 20-year-old is the son of former Bayern Munich and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mark van Bommel.

Also according to Calciomercato, United are competing with Bayern Munich and AC Milan for Van Bommel's signature in the months ahead. It has been reported that Milan even tried to sign the winger in the summer but could not agree a deal.

Van Bommel plays on the left wing for Alkmaar and has scored six goals in nine appearances in all competitions this season. The forward also scored a match-winning brace in the Eredivisie club's 3-2 win over Elfsborg in the Europa League last week.
