Shock pictures of destroyed van as careless driver writes-off vehicle
Pictures have emerged of a van that has been written off by a careless driver in East Lancashire
At around 12.15am on Monday (March 27), police were called to Bolton Road in Darwen to reports of a crash.
A motorist had crashed into a parked car and then collided with a nearby gate. The driver suffered minor injuries and went to hospital.
The van belongs to Elaine Edwards’ son and Ms Edwards has shared shocking pictures of the van after the crash.

The images show the work van in a bad state, with the back torn open and the contents of the van spilling out onto the road.
The van’s back wheel appears to have come off and the bonnet is crushed against a lamppost.
Elaine said she is grateful that her son was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
She said: “I got a phone call just after midnight to say that my son’s work van had been hit.
“I got out of bed, got my son and went to see the carnage left on the road.
“There were fire extinguishers all over the road that had spilled from the van. The van is completely written off.

“The front of the van smashed into a lamppost and it was wedged against the wall.
“The back doors of the vehicle are gone and it’s just an absolute mess.
“The gates outside a nearby dog grooming business have also been impacted.
“I was so shocked when I saw the state of the van and grateful that he wasn’t in it at the time because he might not be alive right now.
“Thankfully work wasn’t impacted and the company has managed to sort that today.”

Elaine is now calling for more speed reducing measures to be carried out on the road.
