Shocking image shows damage after car crashes into cow on quiet country road

This is the shocking state of a car after it lost a fight with a cow.

The white Peugeot 208 collided with the brown cow on a quiet country lane in County Durham on Thursday.

Images of the damage, posted online by Durham Police, show a completely crumpled bonnet and smashed windscreen.

Miraculously the cow managed to escape the crash, on a back road near Great Stainton, in Sedgefield,with only minor injuries.

An officer followed the animal for around a mile where farmers assisted getting the cow back into a field.

After the collision, officers warned motorists to take care when approaching bends after the collision at around 11pm on Thursday.

The force’s road policing unit said: “This is the terrifying result of a motorist hitting a cow on the Sedgefield back road at GT Stainton.

“Fortunately no-one was injured. Always wonder what’s around the bend and can you stop in distance you can see.”

“Even the cow somehow only got minor injuries, and was still able to run from me for a good mile until it was put in a field with the help of some farmers!”
