Shocking Photos ‘Show Gogglebox Stars Steph And Dom Parker’s B&B In Filthy State’

Steph and Dom Parker (aka the posh pair from Gogglebox) are facing criticism over the maintenance and hygiene standards of their high-end B&B after a series of shocking photographs from inside the property emerged.

The stomach-churning snaps, taken behind the scenes of The Saluation in Sandwich, reveal dead insects floating in blocked sinks, an oven thick with grease and filthy refrigerators harbouring rotting meat.

One picture shows a leg of rotting lamb – wrapped in a leaking plastic bag – dripping to the bottom of a grime-ridden fridge, while another image reveals three inches of yellow water, with a lifeless fly floating on the surface.

Elsewhere, an ice machine – used to prepare guests’ beverages – is photographed, covered in slime and mould; and a blocked waste disposal sink appears to contain a revolting ‘stew’ of pungent water, fat and leftovers.

The shambolic kitchen – featuring unswept floors and a chaotic storeroom - serves meals to guests in the luxuriously decorated dining room, where main courses start at £20 each.

The £200-per-night venue, described as the ‘most exclusive, luxury accommodation in Kent’, was slapped with a one star hygiene rating by Dover District Council for its restaurant conditions.

An insider said: “The hygiene standards in the kitchen are absolute atrocious. People have this image of the hotel being a posh, five star hotel but that is not the case when you look inside the kitchen.

“In the ice machine there is mould [and] they use that ice to serve drinks at the bar. The freezers are never cleaned out. The dishwashers aren’t cleaned. The fridges have got mould inside them.”

Further exposing The Salutation’s poor hygiene standards, the insider added: “Quite often food is left uncovered and unlabelled. People aren’t aware of the hygiene standards when they spend a lot of money there.

“The quality of the food is good and the service is nice, but the environment in which it is prepared is dirty. It is a matter of time before someone gets ill, but it is not taken seriously.”

The revolting photos, taken by an anonymous source, are perhaps unsurprising given the establishment’s restaurant low-rating, which was issued after an inspection in May and means that ‘major improvements’ are required.

The source alleged that Steph and Dom are ‘aware’ of the situation, but choose to ‘do nothing about it’ since rumours circulated that they plan to sell the property soon.

After it was initially claimed that the images were fake, a representative for Steph and Dom has admitted that the photos were taken at the property but insisted they show the B&B’s cellar, where no food is prepared.

Wow Factory spokesman Simon Clubley said: “The pictures are from the cellar in The Salutation. No food is prepared in the cellar.”

“During a recent inspection a few issues were raised,” he added. “The chef responsible when the inspection was conducted is no longer with the company.

“We take matters of hygiene extremely seriously and as a result new chefs have been employed and all corrections required have been completed.“

Inspectors are set to revisit the premises this month.
