Shop in Gloucester announces sudden and immediate closure

A shop in Gloucester has announced its sudden closure. The owners, who said their decision to shut the independent store is due to ill health, have thanked their loyal customers for their support over the years and said it will continue online.

The shop, 14 Gifts, in College Street, has been operating in and around Gloucester for years. It specialised in selling items including incense, candles, and other spiritual paraphernalia and collectibles.

The owners, George and Liz Placidly-Cox, caused quite a stir during the pandemic with their struct rules regarding PPE as those not wearing a mask were banned from entering their shop. However, they stood their ground with support from their regular customers and continued trading.

A Facebook post by 14 Gifts, signed by 'George and Lizzie', said: "The 14 Gifts physical Shop in Gloucester is now closed with immediate effect. This is in the main due to health reasons which meant the both of us could not manage the shop anymore.

"We are online at www.14gifts.co.uk where we will regularly update stock and have new things in. We thank our friends and customers for their love and support over the years, though we are not gone completely.

"We will still be around, online and doing some events next year so please do like and follow us to keep updated."
