Shop worker attacked in terrifying Darlaston attempted robbery

A manhunt has been launched after a shop worker was attacked in a terrifying attempted robbery. Police have launched a probe following the bungled robbery in Darlaston today (Friday, November 29).

A masked man demanded money from an employee at Select & Save, in Wolverhampton Street, just before 6am. The worker was then bashed across the head with a knife handle.

The suspect fled the scene empty-handed, police said. It is understood they left in the direction of Heathfield Lane.

Officers are now scouring through CCTV in a bid to catch the culprit. West Midlands Police said: "We're appealing for information after an attempted armed robbery in Darlaston this morning (November 29).

"A masked man entered the Spend & Save store in Wolverhampton Street and demanded money from a shop worker at just before 6am. The man was hit across the head with a knife handle a number of times before the attacker fled empty-handed.

"We understand the attacker fled in the direction of Heathfield Lane and we're now reviewing CCTV in the area to identify who was was involved. From the initial description it's understood he is white, and was wearing black trousers and a black hoodie.
