Viewers were left fuming after a mum-of-six who claims to have made £2m from shoplifting was given a spot on the This Morning sofa.
Kim Farry, has appeared on the daytime show before, claims that she could rake in up to £20,000 a month in goods, which has amounted to around £2million over the years.
But the brazen thief says she gave up her crime-fuelled ‘career’ because her daughter wanted to have a normal life.
Speaking to This Morning hosts Ben Shephard and Rochelle Humes, she said there was an art to stealing.
She said: “I just started off like kids do, I was part of a big family and I wanted to help out, I’m the eldest of nine and it was food at first and then it started with the clothes afterwards.
“I didn’t get away with it, I kept getting caught and then I got better at it.
"I've been to prison, of course - five times.
"I was crying, it was awful.”
Asked whether she felt guilty for what she had done, Kim replied: "Yeah of course but it was only my way of life."
She insisted that people would tell her employers about her shoplifting: "I'd get a job and someone would come in and ruin it."
Kim revealed that she became so good at stealing that she began to employ other people to go back to stores with de-tagged stolen goods and get money back for them.
When asked why she stopped, she said: "Paris [daughter], because she wanted a normal life."
Kim insisted that she was sorry for what she had done, saying: "I look back and I think wow, you don't realise how many people you are hurting."
It then emerged at the end of the interview that she had written a book and, when probed, revealed that she received the money directly for it.
However, she insisted that some of the money was going to charity but viewers were still incensed.
One said on Twitter: "What’s with this interview? Feels like its glamourising shoplifting? Getting a step by step on how to do it too. Completely inappropriate. #ThisMorning."
Another added: "Why put this woman on again. Giving a vile thief airtime. Even Schofe told her things should be bolted down to stop her robbing. Get a job you rat #ThisMorning."
