Shoppers want discount giants B&M and Farmfoods to move into a former Poundland. The old Poundland unit - on High Street, in Tunstall - has been empty since 2020 and now snapped up by a new owner.

Other suggestions from StokeonTrentLive readers include a branch of Greggs or Heron Foods. But any hopes for an IKEA store have been quickly dismissed.

And readers do not want to see any more vape shops, takeaways, or barbers in the town centre. It comes as Staffordshire Police were called to the old Poundland last weekend - with two suspected burglars found inside.

Marsha Wright said: "B&M would be good." Tasha Ann added: "Hopefully something decent like a small B&M or something similar."

It is hoped that Farmfoods would want to replace its Burslem branch which never reopened following a devastating fire.

Julie Watson said: "A Farmfoods would be amazing."
