Horrified locals have described the moment they heard 'shouting' before police began 'screaming' and 'kicking the door down' at a nearby house while children were still out in the street.

One person who lives on Hawk Road said: "I saw everyone outside. I saw three people get arrested here, they looked very young. They were stood around for ages handcuffed and then they went. We live on this estate so a lot of things happen but I’ve never really seen anything like this before.”

Another Hawk Road resident, who asked not to be named, added: “I was home, I just heard someone shouting and someone ran outside. I saw three guys get arrested, I don’t know what happened. But I’m not too scared, I spent 10 years in the army nothing much scared me."

And a woman, who lives on Cutnook Lane and directly in front of the schools, said: “I got home and put my shopping away and the I heard all the sirens. Then I heard police screaming and kicking in the back door of a house behind me.

"There were loads of kids about cause school was being let out. The police being here makes you feel a bit safer but it’s usually quiet around here.”
