Shovelling Snow a Pretty Thankless Task in Near-Whiteout Conditions

Lake-effect snow was piling up in New York State on December 12, with over three feet recorded in parts, according to local news.

A state of emergency was declared for parts of west New York on Wednesday, and many schools were closed in Buffalo and surrounding communities on Thursday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that gusty winds combined with the heavy snow would produce “near-whiteout conditions at times” for parts of Erie County on Thursday.
