'Show must go on' - New venues for rock band and Hanley Santa parade today
New venues have been sorted for a city centre parade and live music show to celebrate the start of the Christmas countdown after the original plans were hit by a weather warning. Santa had been expected to leave Smithfield and parade through Hanley before reaching The Potteries Centre today (Saturday, November 23).
An outdoor stage on Fountain Square was also lined up to feature live acts and performances throughout the day. But the programme of events had to be altered - with a weather warning for rain and snow now in place over the weekend.
Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has switched the parade and other fun activates to inside The Potteries Centre. And Thunder Hammer's iconic Monsters of Rock LIVE show has been saved with The Underground on Morley Street stepping in to host at the last minute.

The show is a sell-out.
Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID posted on its Facebook page: "You asked, we listened… THE SHOW MUST GO ON. We’ve been squirrelling away planning a safe alternative plan and now thrilled to share that Thunder Hammer will still be able to perform in the city centre this Saturday."
Detailing what is happening with today's parade, another post stated: "Santa's Arrival Parade at 11am throughout the whole centre. A stage jam packed with choirs, Christmas tunes and entertainment near Lush, all day. The opening of Claus Cabin in the centre.
"The Potteries Artisan Market will be in situ in the centre too, just opposite Pandora. Free Christmas crafting in Keep it Local Creative Department Store. We’ve done this to make things safe and enjoyable for all visitors, vendors and team, whilst still marking the welcome of Christmas in your city centre."
