The show replacing Birmingham's biggest fireworks event for 2024
Traditionally, Edgbaston Stadium has always hosted Birmingham's biggest fireworks event. However, for 2024, there's a big change. Instead of oohing and aahing at fireworks, people will be able to marvel at a huge drone light show taking to the skies.
Following sell-out shows in Bristol, Cardiff, and the East Midlands, Evolution is now touring the UK, stopping off in Birmingham on the way. The light show promises to 'take audiences on a mesmerising journey through time and space'.
Suitable for all ages, families will be able to watch the world transform from single-cell organisms to huge dinosaurs onto the dawning of modern humans. The narrated story starts with the Big Bang before journeying into the remarkable origins of conscious life on Earth.

The event is brought to Birmingham by Celestial (creators of drone light shows for brands across the globe), Yuup (the local experiences company) and venue partner Edgbaston Stadium, home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club. And it's considerably earlier than traditional firework display events.
"Evolution has been four years in the making," said John Hopkins, founder and CEO of Celestial. "This is so much more than a drone light show, it’s an experience of stadium scale, created to bring audiences together using a new medium, the sky, to tell the story of time."
Dominic Mills, founder and CEO of Yuup added: "We’re hugely excited to be partnering with Celestial to bring this unique spectacle to the people of Birmingham and at such an epic scale. Our shows have now been viewed by 60,000 people and the show is now even bigger and better with more drones and a much longer show time than our early productions. Evolution offers a brand-new source of entertainment unlike anything anyone has ever seen before in Birmingham, encouraging people to look up and reconnect with the world."
