Hairspray Live featuring Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and Martin Short will stream online for free this Friday.

The 2016 production, which also stars Maddie Baillio, Billy Eichner, Kristin Chenoweth, Dove Cameron and Harvey Fierstein will be available for the whole weekend for UK audiences on YouTube channel The Shows Must Go On.

It follows six of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals and a 2013 live television production of The Sound of Music, which streamed this past weekend.

Hairspray Live will be available to watch from Friday May 29 at 7pm for 48 hours.

It was nominated for seven Emmy Awards when it aired on NBC, winning three.

The musical is based on the 1988 film, originally opening in 2002 with songs such as "You Can't Stop the Beat", "Big, Blonde and Beautiful" and "Good Morning Baltimore".

A new production of Hairspray starring Michael Ball and Paul Merton will open in September this year.

Last week’s musical stream saw Grammy Award-winning country singer Carrie Underwood star alongside True Blood actor Stephen Moyer as Maria and Captain von Trapp in the Sound of Music Live from 2015.

Before this, Lloyd Webber shared a series of six musicals including the Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Love Never Dies, By Jeeves and Cats. The composer said the streams had raised well over half a million dollars for acting charities.
