This article contains spoilers for the recently released film Split.

REJOICE, fans of plot twists and alternative superhero movies! Director M Night Shyamalan has announced the release date for his newest film... a sequel to Unbreakable AND Split.

If you haven't watched it already, the post-credits scene in Split sees Bruce Willis return as David Dunn, confirming the films were in a shared universe.

Following on from that, the famous filmmaker told us exclusively that his plan was for a trilogy, and now we've got a confirmed title and release date!

"Universal Pictures will release Glass on January 18, 2019 all over the world. How's that for not keeping a secret!" he tweeted.

And that wasn't the only bit of news he dropped – in a series of tweets, Shyamalan revealed which cast members would be returning for Glass (spoilers: pretty much all of them).

The big news is that Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson and Anya-Taylor Joy will be reprising their individual roles from the 'Shyamaverse', while James McAvoy will be reprising all his roles of (deep breath) "Kevin Wendell Crumb, Patricia, Dennis, Hedwig, Barry, Jade, Orwell, The Beast, Heinrich, Norma" (runs out of breath).

Shyamalan also recently revealed that he had to go to Disney to get that post-credits scene in Split, since the House of Mouse's Touchstone Pictures owns the rights to Unbreakable.
