Hairy Bikers star Si King has reassured fans that co-star Dave Myers is 'doing okay' after the celebrity chef recently shared his cancer diagnosis.

Myers, who became a household name as part of the cooking duo, revealed last week that he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

During a solo appearance on Wednesday's This Morning, when King was asked by host Phillip Schofield — who was joined by Rochelle Humes — how his co-star was coping, he replied: "He's doing okay.

"He remains really positive and pretty focused on his treatment.

"He's typically Dave, he's as tough as an old boot. He's doing grand, thank you for asking."

King, who whipped up a chicken and spinach curry on the segment, also touched on how he felt doing the breakfast show without him.

He said: "It's a bit odd without my mate, I have to say. But, no, it's good."

Speaking on his and King's Hairy Bikers' Agony Uncles podcast, Myers had stated that he didn't want to 'hide under a rock' but will be away from work and appealed for his privacy to be respected as he undergoes treatment.

"The prognosis is okay, I’m going to be fine," the 64-year-old added. "I’ve just got to tuck in, look after myself, eat sensibly and get over this mess, flog books, and be a happy person so, within that, that’s where I am.

"I may be a baldy biker for a while so it’s just a warning, I don’t want to make a fuss about it, I look all right bald actually."

This Morning viewers took to social media to also share their thoughts on Myer's absence.

One wrote: "Just want to give Si King a cuddle he looks so lost without his bestie. Lots of love to The Hairy Bikers." Another said: "So strange to see Si doing the cooking on #ThisMorning without Dave. Hope Dave's doing ok #TheHairyBikers."

Myers, who did not reveal what type of cancer he has, previously spoke about his health struggles, including being diagnosed with glaucoma – an eye condition that can lead to blindness - which he told The Mirror he had mistakenly thought was a hangover.

He also suffered from a brain aneurysm in 2014, which he survived due to losing a considerable amount of weight.
