Silent Witness devastated fans say they're 'not ready' as final episodes air on BBC One
Silent Witness fans have said they're "not ready" as its final episodes air on BBC One.
The hit crime drama's 28th season reaches its anticipated conclusion this week, with the penultimate episode I Believe in Love airing on Monday (February 3) night.
The gripping instalment began with a dramatic scene where six individuals were killed in a Syrian pizza restaurant shooting. Nikki Alexander (played by Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) were then tasked with identifying the shooter before they could hurt anyone else.
A suspect is later identified through CCTV footage, but he is found dead, seemingly by suicide, using the same distinctive bullets used in the attack.

While solving the mystery, Nikki also manages to find time to browse for wedding dresses ahead of her Jack's upcoming nuptials.
As the tense storyline played out on screen, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their sadness at the season's end, with one writing: "It's time! I'm so ready but not ready for this at the same time."
"Am I ready for these last two episodes? Absolutely not!" another added, while a third said: "Here we go!! My emotions are out of control already, really don't want this series to end."
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: "Never going to be fully ready for these two episodes but....episode 9 lets go!"
Meanwhile, other viewers have reflected on the season's triumphs: "I couldn't wait! Just finished both episodes. And yes, I sobbed!! This series has been truly outstanding, from storylines to forensics, to cast. I've loved it all. Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of #SilentWitness. See you all again next year."
Following tonight's episode, the season finale airs on Tuesday (February 4) at 9pm on BBC One.
The broadcaster has since confirmed that Silent Witness will return for a 29th season, which was greenlit in January.
The forensic series currently holds the title of the longest-running crime drama being broadcast worldwide. Next year, the show celebrates its 30th anniversary.
